I have always been a fan of the X-man movies and especially of Wolverine and his solo films. The past Wolverine films were better than average taking more to Wolverine’s character of a lone ranger who just wants to keep to himself but has the heart of savior who is willing to deny himself for the sake of other in dire straits. This movie still had all those same qualities but the story was boring, the characters we love so much are week and if any thing this film was the death of Wolverine Charles Xavior.
Specifically the story line lacked excitement and the seem to be a bunch of nonsense that contributed little to nothing in the first third of the film. Then there was the returning theme of created mutants which made since in all based on the past Wolverine films but there were no new twists and purposes to the old idea.
Hugh Jackman the made look old which I sort of get knowing that Wolverine is suppose to have some sort of illness in the movie. But come on first of all in reality he is not that old and secondly if he could last centuries staying and looking virtually the same age, then why all of the sudden should he be looking saggy, having liver spots and turning grew.
There was his supposed daughter who was made in the lab. I liked her even though she didn’t talk much. but she was fierce had some cool new variations to the original wolverine model and took the show in the action roles by my opinion. Which I’m happy for because the movie lacked in action which I expect watching any X-men type movie.
Last thing I want to mention was the wolverine copy that was brain washed to kill who ever his master told it to kill. basically he was like the terminator in regards to being robotic, and almost indestructible.
I must say that I can not quite judge this movie to the utmost accuracy due to me getting board and basically falling asleep toward the end. But i believe I saw most of it and if not listened to most of it. Im just glad I didn’t see it in theaters.
Alice through the looking glass is a movie that entices you to watch it through its magical gleam and it heart held Disney characters that we all grew up knowing. In fact I was just as taken into the thought of seeing this movie as I was the first one, except I did not see the first one and even forgot there even was a first one.. That is until I started picking up on the obvious holes that blatantly stood out from the start.
I happen to like Johny Depp and him being the other other main character besides Alice, and this episode being about him I thought I was in for a real treat. But I am begging to learn that Even though Johny Depp can master some roles some of his characters I just do not take to, behold exhibit A… Although I was impressed by the character so called ‘Time’ and the Queen of Hearts.
Even though I did not enjoy much about this picture, I did enjoy a few bits and pieces here and there. The old time British men in there staunch proper hit the real money in looking to fit the part right on. Then there was Mr time and all his parts were a real hoot. The other part I was entertained by was the back story on how the queen of hearts became evil.
So now I can say that I have seen one of the two ‘Alice and Wonderlands’ but by know means was I Impressed. So not impressed that I couldn’t even tell you what happened in the end because I cut the movie short 15 minutes of finishing. It wasn’t worth my time.
I do not usually watch kid movies unless I really find them to look appealing. Its not that there is anything wrong with kids movies. In fact for a while I was on a kids movie kick and would watch them all, since they are usually pretty good in the right context. But I got caught up watching this one at one of those outside movie showing that the city was putting on, so that why this is sort of out of the ordinary from my usual movie reviews.
Previously I had never heard of this movie up until the day I watched it. But its about some native islanders who’s island is becoming unlivable because of all their resources are strangely dying or vanishing. Moana is the chiefs daughter and has a calling to venture out to sea to save her people.
Really this is just another typical kids film as it shares allot of similarities according to how other kids movies go. Same ole prideful and courageous princes. Same ole outcast self centered partner. Same ole mission, save the day.
The songs the characters sing like most kids movies where pretty catchy and fun. Even after the movies is over you will be singing these songs in your head. There are cute little funny animal pet/sidekicks that really steal the show away if you asked me. Most of what I was laughing at was the stupid chicken. Then there is the great building of a relationship and team work between the two hero’s of this film Moana and Maui. I was really thinking they where going to fall in love with each other but that didn’t happen.
The two heroes’ face a couple of villains together and contribute equally. Some of the beasts they face are not really that scary and are actually quite goofy which I liked. Moana and Maui really have a pretty good thing going as they have to help one another to reach their own individual goals.
The best way I can explain this movie is a mixture between Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch. So if you have a thing for Hawaii or being out on the open sea then this might be the movie for you.
Comparing this with other kids movies, I am giving this one a Five out of Ten.
Do you like scary movies that also can be something to find a little bit funny, well this one is just that. This one takes a cast of comedians and sticks them in a not so jolly story. Most horror movies would not take a cast of comedians to be apart of an unhappy ending but it actually worked out for this movie as the actors could really act and throw in a little dash of comedy on the side.
Having all the family over for christmas the family has difficulties getting along with one another leaving a bitter vibe in this house. Pushing one of the little boys over the edge the boy gives up on trying to bring his family together and ends up bringing a curse upon his house hold with the anti Santa Claus demon leading the show.
I never really thought this movie would be any good based on the previews seeing all these comedians in this scary movie and it being about and evil Santa Claus character but it actually wasn’t that bad when watching it. What captured my attention was the way they kept the watcher guessing for answers. Allot of the movie at first is filled with suspense as they are trying to figure out what is going on. The blizzard is also a nice touch as it makes it difficult to see what exactly is happening.
The movie is full of creepy monsters and a frightful setting that makes a perfect concoction for a scary movie. There is no mercy for any of these family members from the little children to the old people creating even a more fearful feeling. Krampus’s little minions make this movie that much better as they are just as evil and ruthless as can be. It sort of reminded me of a bunch of Chuckys or gremlins causing havoc. The way they created how Krampus to look as the monster is also quite good and when ever you get to catch a glimpse of his face that is one of the most scares faces I ever seen. I bet it would make an excellent halloween mask.
The funny parts of this film really do make the frighting parts easier to bare as they are mixed in together really well. The family’s dynamics is quite hilarious as most families in movies are but this movie does not fail in this area by any means. There was also a lot to poke fun at when your watching the family fight Krampus’s little minions. I thought the movie ended well with the Krampus acting like he would show pity but he is as evil as he can be. The ending was also great as it throws your mind for a spin in wondering what actually happened to the family. This movie is watchable but only something that you might want to watch on halloween and without the kids I might add. This movie receives a Six out of Ten.
Cabin Fever 2016 is a remake of Cabin Fever 2002, which means to me it should be better. It should be better in the since that movies should become better over time as there is new technology, more knowledge and so forth on how to create a more scary feeling in the eyes of the viewer. I think they did a good job remaking Evil Dead as it was a lot more scarier than the previous one, but this movie seemed to not be any better, or the same, but in fact worse than the original.
Okay so it has been a while since I seen Cabin Fever 2002 But what I can remember of it was that it was scary and it did have good acting.. for the most part. To make sure of my self I looked at the difference in ratings between the two versions and as confirmation to my memory it seems that the first version was a lot better.
This movie is about a group of young people that go on vacation to this cabin in the middle of the woods where there is a disease that causes there flesh to rot away. One after another they contract the disease no matter how hard they try not to catch it. They shun their friends that do have it but this even does not keep them from catching it. The situation is pretty much typical as in every scary movie. There is a group of about 5 people some are couples and some are singles. There is always the one weird guy of the bunch, The selfish guy who only cares about his own safety. and the rest are cheating couples. The local towns folk are always really weird and the vacationers always get the vibe from them like they are not suppose to be there and if they decide to stay they will probably die. And then there is the scary campfire story that is always told right before things start to get real. So basically what Im saying is there is nothing special about this setup.
What did I not like about this movie, well pretty much everything. The acting was horrible. The flesh eating disease was not that disgusting. There was nothing scary about how they contracted it. It was really just a bunch of blood. The towns folk where probably the scariest part seeing how crazy they where. I never understood a lot of the characters. Like what was wrong with the butcher lady, The kid wearing the bunny mask, The sherif chick, and the strange weed smoking traveler out in the woods. They were really all very strange characters and I didn’t really understand their purpose other than to make the town super weird.
Even though I am still confused on what exactly this flesh eating disease really did to the people I think that I can conclude that it made people crazy, want to harm other people, and that it did not allow them to die very fast. I just think about the diseased dog and the sick man in the woods and how these decaying bodies are still alive and what the heck are they doing bothering these nice young people for. I got the since that maybe the town folk were in on it and wanted them to die in the woods but who knows, the director did not really do a good job of putting the pieces together.
So this movie was just about as disappointing as ever, as I had really high hopes for it an all seeing how good the first one was. If you want to see a real good flesh eating disease movie, watch Contracted. Now that movie is sick. Also the most important think to take home from reading this review is, if you haven’t watched either of the two makes or have only watched the most recent 2016 remake, watch the 2002 version, it will be a better use of your time. This movie let me down, but I will be generous and give it a Four out of Ten just because I liked the old one.
I just saw this movie on TV last night and thought to my self “well that sounds cool”, remembered how good the first Mean Girls was, and decided I would just have to give it a try no matter how uncool it might actually be.
This movie is basically just like the first in that it tells relatively the same story with a new generation of girls. If you can remember the first Mean Girls it ends with a new group of underclass women moving up as the new Plastics at the school. So in this movie the new girl is the new hot cool girl on campus. She is french, a daddy’s girl, and knows how to work on cars. Choosing not to join the plastics after being invited she chooses to help the biggest loser girl at her school out of compassion. This friendly act of kindness turns into a source of income for her college tuition from the loser girls father who pays the new girl to be her friend. The new girl and the loser girl start to become popular as they stand up for themselves against the attempts of the plastics to ruin their lives. The rest of the movie is just them battling it out against each other for who is most popular even though it began as just the new girl wanting to stand up for herself and her friends.
Mean Girls 2 definitely does not stand up to the first Mean girls. One thing that i didn’t like right from the beginning where the girls they used for the cast. I mean they looked like they pulled these girls strait off of Disney Channel, they just didn’t look cool enough. Another thing that bothered me was that they pretty much used the exact same story line and some of the lines from the script were exactly the same from the the first movie. I mean they switched it up hear and there with the background story of the new girl and how she becomes friends with the less popular crowd but basically everything els was exactly the same.
This movie was a little bit more G rated than PG 13. It did not have as much sexual content and like I said, it probably could have been on Disney Channel. They just did not put enough time into this movie as the acting was cheap and the scenes were everything but original. No wonder it didn’t make it to theaters. One thing they did step it up on was how ruthless these mean girls could be. I seriously think they took it to a whole new level here. Not really surprising seeing how teenage girls are these days at school with the newer age media technology.
I was down right disappointed in this movie hoping that it might be like Mean Girls in how great that movie was but it did not even come close to suffice. The only thing they did right in keeping with the first was the principle. The principle is the same from the first movie and I think he alone held this movie together as being a sequel. I would give Mean Girls a nine out of ten and Mean Girls 2 in comparison a Three out of Ten.
Ben Stiller plays Jerry Stahl the key player in this film. 90 days out of rehab Jerry meets this women in a motel for a fun time. Based on his poor performance they get to talking about their past lives and then moving from just sex to sex and heroin. Jerry tells his story that night in the hotel room to kitty about his past drug addiction. Jerry is a writer and a pretty good one at that and he does the normal walk of life but the only difference is he gets caught up in drugs.
I would have to say this movie was pretty disturbing. I know it was a drug movie in all but I felt it got right down to the cold hard facts of what being addicted to hard core drugs can actually look like and do to a man and his life. The movie didn’t start out that messed up. Its hard to tell what the first drug is that they are doing in the movie but by comparing them to the other drugs as the movie went on, Im guessing it was the gateway drug weed or maybe it was crack hard to tell.
At first it looks like Jerry is able to function and function pretty well on the heroin as he goes about his career and seems to get multiple opportunities for different gigs in his industry. He also becomes pretty good at hiding his drug use from his wife who I think is a little too forgiving of the fact that her husband as a heroin addict. His addiction to heroin really starts to become obvious when he has to shoot up whenever his last dose wears off or he becomes stressed. You get to see how he becomes more out of control and brain dead as his heroin addiction becomes worse. He can’t even carry on a conversation and half the people he knows or meets he either tries to score from in the most desperate ways.
Eventually Jerry switches one drug for another as he is pushed to get clean from the heroin to keep his new job. He checks himself in to rehab where the Doctor pretty much tells him how sick he is from his addiction. Jerry does not take his rehab that seriously since as soon as he walks out the doors of the clinic he is met by this god forsaken drug dealer who sells to people trying to get off drugs. This guy is real messed up as he get Jerry addicted to crack and pretty much sells him some all the time even though he wants to get off it knowing how jacked up the crack makes him. Some of the scenes with him on crack are pretty messed up as it show war this drug makes people do.
Most of the saddest parts of this movie involve Jerry running in to other people and how sick and disturbed Jerry looks to the outside world even though he can’t necessarily see it himself being high all the time. But The people that he runs into just doing his normal life while on drugs would make a normal person feel so shameful and you really feel sorry that a guy like Jerry could drop so low. Toward the end Jerry eventually gets caught and sent to jail in the most sorrowful circumstance ever. Although your happy for the guy after seeing that he finally is going to get some help.
This movie was hard to finish seeing how messed up drugs actually are in the hand of an addict. Most the time this movie just gave me bad feeling and made me sad and depressed. It even took me a while to stop thinking about it after it was over and the way it effected me lingered. I will never watch this again, not because it was a bad movie, but just because I like watching stuff that makes me have good feeling and not nightmares. This Movie gets a Six out of Ten.
