Wonder Woman (2017)

WW

Let me start off by saying that I had no expectations going into this film. You see I am not a super hero movie type of guy. They are far and few between. The last good one I saw was Batman The Dark Knight. Now that was back in 2008, so as you can see I sort of gave up on this genre a long time ago. You might say Super hero movies are a brand of movie that has now just taken off in popularity in the past decade or so. Leaving the film industry with a lot of new material to work off of. Making it an exciting and fresh new genre for movie watchers and especially for the large population of comic book fans that happen to be out there. So you might ask, why this movie? what made me want to watch this one? Well it did get tons of hype for one thing and secondly some friends of mine who have already seen it in theaters more times than I would ever deem a movie worthy of watching talked  me into going. So here I am, and my experience was worth every penny, even though I only paid $4.50. Score!!

At first I wanted to say this movie had a rocky start. I really had to hold my self back from laughing and I chuckled through the first 15 minutes or so. It might have been something to do with all the women and how feminist like they were. Besides that, the little special island all the women fighters were on was pretty cool and I really appreciated how beautiful it looked.

I guess they really didn’t expect for man kind to have such deadly weapons because they literally were no match for the germans with there archaic weaponry. And I didn’t under stand why they would lie so much to Wonder Women unless partially it was just them being as ignorant as I began to notice they were.

Anyways the the movie started to pick up when Wonder Women and Steve, the guy she goes out to save the world with, begin their mission. Most of the comedy can be summed up in Diana/ Wonder Women being ignorant of how the real world works. This act carries a long way and never gets old which had me laughing my butt off.

You don’t really know what sort of powers Wonder Women holds in the begging of the movie. They did a good job in revealing her powers by little bits at a time allowing you not to get board but super excited to see how she was going to conquer the next challenge. Her character is also heart warming which makes you want to root for her. She has a spirit to do good no matter who or what gets in her way and she shows no partiality.

The movie really takes you on a whirlwind of emotions as there is some loss and some victories, joy, love, brotherhood, pain and suffering. The progression of the movie was perfect and there was not time for a dull moment to miss any part of this film. The mystery in wondering if there truly is an Eras god of war who is causing all the evil leaves the watcher wondering how this movie will all end. The ending is quite good as you do not see it coming.

I am happy to say this movie gets the highest score I have yet to give on a movie on my review blog. This one took me by surprise and I would mention that I do not give out scores higher than eights that often but this one deserves it. Wonder Women gets a Nine out of Ten.

Krampus (2015)

Krampus-2015-after-credits-hq

Do you like scary movies that also can be something to find a little bit funny, well this one is just that. This one takes a cast of comedians and sticks them in a not so jolly story. Most horror movies would not take a cast of comedians to be apart of an unhappy ending but it actually worked out for this movie as the actors could really act and throw in a little dash of comedy on the side.

Having all the family over for christmas the family has difficulties getting along with one another leaving a bitter vibe in this house. Pushing one of the little boys over the edge the boy gives up on trying to bring his family together and ends up bringing a curse upon his house hold with the anti Santa Claus demon leading the show.

I never really thought this movie would be any good based on the previews seeing all these comedians in this scary movie and it being about and evil Santa Claus character but it actually wasn’t that bad when watching it. What captured my attention was the way they kept the watcher guessing for answers. Allot of the movie at first is filled with suspense as they are trying to figure out what is going on. The blizzard is also a nice touch as it makes it difficult to see what exactly is happening.

The movie is full of creepy monsters and a frightful setting that makes a perfect concoction for a scary movie. There is no mercy for any of these family members from the little children to the old people creating even a more fearful feeling. Krampus’s little minions make this movie that much better as they are just as evil and ruthless as can be. It sort of reminded me of a bunch of Chuckys or gremlins causing havoc. The way they created how Krampus to look as the monster is also quite good and when ever you get to catch a glimpse of his face that is one of the most scares faces I ever seen. I bet it would make an excellent halloween mask.

The funny parts of this film really do make the frighting parts easier to bare as they are mixed in together really well. The family’s dynamics is quite hilarious as most families in movies are but this movie does not fail in this area by any means. There was also a lot to poke fun at when your watching the family fight Krampus’s little minions. I thought the movie ended well with the Krampus acting like he would show pity but he is as evil as he can be. The ending was also great as it throws your mind for a spin in wondering what actually happened to the family. This movie is watchable but only something that you might want to watch on halloween and without the kids I might add. This movie receives a Six out of Ten.

Suicide Squad (2016)

suicide-squad-movie-characters-calendar

It’s nice to see a super hero film not made up of your typical super hero’s. Yes, Its good to see the bad guys to be the stars of the show for once. This is an interesting group of villains coming from different criminal back grounds. They each have their own stories of how they became notorious criminals and they each have their own special skills that when put together they make an excellent team to save Gotham. They don’t really choose to take on this task of saving Gotham from the witch and her sorcerer brother. No, They are forced to by a way that they have no control over. Well they do have control but if they choose to not except this mission then it will truly blow up on them. Their mission is to stop the witch and the sorcerer from making the humans come to worship machines. I didn’t really quite understand this from watching the movie but maybe it has to do with the town people becoming machine themselves. Okay lets review this movie by analyzing the hero’s/villains.

SUICIDE SQUAD

Deadshot: Played by the best of the best Will Smith. Even though it is not his typical movie he did a great job playing this part. The movie starts out with him working out inside his prison cell. Which it is not surprising to see him getting a pump if you ever seen any of his other movies. He seems to like to show that he is a strong stud of a man. His character seems to have a bone to pick with Batman but his love for his daughter is more important as he surrenders himself to the police. Deadshot’s main goals seems to be to get out of prison and care for his daughter and he is willing to stick to the mission given to him and do a good job holding the team together to do it. He definitely makes the other military guys look like a joke with his supreme gun skills by never missing a shot and having super fast shooting speed.

Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn: Played by Margot Robbie does an excellent job in playing the character that I think stole the show. Most of the attention is placed on her and her history and relationship with the Joker, which made the movie a lot more than just a bunch of DC Villains saving the world. I never really understood how she came to be so skilled in combat but I do enjoy her weapon’s of choice, a sexy white pistol and baseball bat. With her outfits, makeup, and say whatever, do whatever she wants attitude, there is no doubt she definitely deserves to be the the star of the show and the reason why you might want to watch this movie. Who new crazy could ever be so hot!

captain-boomerangjpg

Captain Boomerang: A legendary bank robber, maybe not one of the most important characters in the film yet he still contributes by slashing up the witches machine army with razor blade boomerangs that seem to be more effective used as melee weapons  rather than throwing knives against these guys. Not too trust worthy as a criminal partner though, as his whole scheme is to use them to rob banks and then kill them after the job is done. His whole character is sort of based on a joke being apart of this team as he tries to make funny jokes and is always taking a break from the fighting to slam down a quick beer. Where does he get all these beers at anyways.. I would like to know. Maybe his little magic plush toy that he hides in his coat makes them poof right out of thin air.

Killer croc

Killer Croc: not at all my favorite hero out of the bunch but I guess he does contribute. He is super strong and his weapon of choose is himself. He definitely got some anger issues or an inferiority complex  because of how people treat him as an animal/monster. He says very few words throughout the movie and the lines that he does say are not really that meaningful. They also could of done a better job on making him look a bit better, he wasn’t that cool looking to me. They should have taken notes from the Fantastic Four seeing that the The Thing turned out more decent. But I guess they needed a guy on their crew to look like a monster to really give them that final touch.

Katana

Katana: Not actually a villain like all the rest although she does become part of the team of the suicide squad. She functions at the start to keep the squad in line and from doing anything stupid, then ends up fighting along side them. She actually can do quite a bit of damage with her samurai sword and does quite a number on the main sorcerer bad guy at the end. She comes from a dark past as the film shows that her sword is actually cursed.

rick flag

Rick Flag: Military man who assigned to lead the team in saving the world. Actually his real motivation is to free his girlfriend June Moone who has been possessed by the Witch/Enchantress. Im not really sure how some one can be in love with a possessed girl, but I guess it can happen. Rick Flag makes a strong leader and does well to keep the team in line with his calm cool and collected attitude. Yet when the situation wills it he is not afraid to stick to his word and blow somebody’s head off for stepping out of line.

El-Diablo-620371

Diablo: This is one cool cat with a mess of tattoos and a super power that anybody would want to have. He makes out to be one of my favorites of the squad. He has a great background story as it goes into his family and how and they ended up catching him. This man has made a lot of mistakes with his great power he was born with and these mistakes have humbled him to live a peaceful non confrontational life. He does not help the squad for most of the movie as he tries to avoid using his power. But then he is pushed by Deadshot toward the end into being a big help for the team and maybe even MVP.

I will give this movie more credit than most critics. It deserves a Seven out of Ten.
