Alice through the looking glass is a movie that entices you to watch it through its magical gleam and it heart held Disney characters that we all grew up knowing. In fact I was just as taken into the thought of seeing this movie as I was the first one, except I did not see the first one and even forgot there even was a first one.. That is until I started picking up on the obvious holes that blatantly stood out from the start.
I happen to like Johny Depp and him being the other other main character besides Alice, and this episode being about him I thought I was in for a real treat. But I am begging to learn that Even though Johny Depp can master some roles some of his characters I just do not take to, behold exhibit A… Although I was impressed by the character so called ‘Time’ and the Queen of Hearts.
Even though I did not enjoy much about this picture, I did enjoy a few bits and pieces here and there. The old time British men in there staunch proper hit the real money in looking to fit the part right on. Then there was Mr time and all his parts were a real hoot. The other part I was entertained by was the back story on how the queen of hearts became evil.
So now I can say that I have seen one of the two ‘Alice and Wonderlands’ but by know means was I Impressed. So not impressed that I couldn’t even tell you what happened in the end because I cut the movie short 15 minutes of finishing. It wasn’t worth my time.
Three hours and seven minutes of mostly strait dialogue accompanied by great acting and a classic cast. This is Quentin Taranitnos latest movies and it has his signature moves all over it. Set in the western days in the cold mountains of Wyoming a group of men and and a women prisoner who is hard to tell if she out of her mind or not, are snowed in in a cabin waiting out a blizzard.
The men are rugged and tough and some have secret allegiances with one another. Most of them don’t know each other but as they wait the storm out in the cabin together the story unwinds into a drawn out uncovering of secret motives and greed.
Now the funny thing about this blog is it is not at all a completely watched movie so therefore there may be some holes in my judgment. Due to watching this movies at three different times and seeing different bits and pieces of it probably making up 85% of the movies. Though experiencing the movie in this way and having seen this much I believe has given me a fresh perspective unlike I have ever experienced before watching a movie.
The beginning starts off great, drawing me in to the movies With the highest expectations that I had landed on a gold mind. About thirty minutes in the movie slows down quite greatly and then the next hour and a half drag on with little action. Finally the story picks back up as the tension rises and comes to a climax.
I love Quentin Tarantinos movies but this one just did not make it in his top peaces of work in my opinion. Suggestion if your going to make a movie three hours plus add in more adventure and action and less strait dialogue.
This Movie happen to be on TV last night when my sister made me stop in switching through the channels because she just had to see it. Im not going to lie I sort of wanted to see it to, I mean it looked intriguing enough. I will say that I did not watch the entirety of this movie because we caught it about 30 minutes already into to it. But I thought i would be fun to write a review about a movie I haven’t completely seen anyway.
As you can see from the photo above Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have shown and continue to prove that they are the perfect match when it comes to doing movies together. This time the show is all about them and they are solely the stars and the center of attention. There chemistry is great and Ryan looks as good as usual, My sister could not stop talking about how much she was in love with him, even more than every other girl out there. Yet I did not care for as much Emma stones look that she gave off. In my opinion she just wasn’t as pretty for some reason.
Lala Land Gives of a theme you would see in a Disney movie, Kyndall said something like Mary Poppins which I can definitely see as so. There is an old feel to the movie as if it were set in the earlier part of the 20th century, maybe 1930s or 1940s. But the catch is that its not, its actually shot in a very modern period, even though it looks to be in a earlier time.
This Movie is all about two people falling in Love in the most beautiful and magical way a person could ever imagine it happening. Infant that is about all it is about. At one Point I commented “do these people even work or have any sort of responsibilities they need to attend to”. But thats ok like I said its like a Disney movie.
Some things I really enjoyed about this movie were that for one It is a musical, which i did not expect. And the best part is they don’t do to many songs! I just hate when a musical has way to many singing scenes. Also the Dance choreography that goes along with the musical scenes is superb. Probably the best part for me were the colors and the contrast in the colors. This really gave the movie the old Disney style magical feel that would give you most happiest of feelings. Finally the plot revolves around Jazz music which I really enjoyed listing to and watching it played, as well as hearing it talked about. It really made Jazz sound cool, classic, and fun. Something never to be lost in time.
My final thoughts are that even though this movie was good I did not particularly enjoy it mainly because it was strictly a love story and that just isn’t my taste. My sister loved it and she said she wants to watch it next time from the beginning. But for me this would be the last time for me.
As old as Drew Barrymore has become she still hasn’t lost her tough as a great actress. She stars in this new Netflix Comedy as a zombie wife/mother. Not to worry though she isn’t the mindless zombie you might have pictured. And with her family sticking by her side and even finding her more fun and cool than she use to be being a zombie may not be all that bad for this little suburban California family.
The show wastes no time in getting into the mess of having Drew become undead and having to learn how to live with this not so lively lines. Her process in becoming a zombie was interesting and yet still confusing but I guess they can make anything work these days. Lets just say its not your traditional zombie transformation.
The family is new and improved lively you might ironically say as they were once.. well before the big change sort of broken. Now they have a mission help, help keep mom with us. It’s strange in what can bring families together. Even though they have come together they start living a more reckless and entertaining life style that is full of bold moves and excitement which makes the episodes fun to watch.
As the show progresses. they end up killing more an more “bad” people, as they justify there actions, to help keep mom fed so she doesn’t start becoming to zombie minded to the point were she is eating her family. but as time progresses her illness brings new challenges that call for innovative solutions to keep her form deteriorating and becoming more fully zombie than human.
The show in its entirety is a interesting concept that would spark most seasoned comedy show watchers attention. Plus any show that stars Drew Barrymore has to be one you must add to your list to watch, as she has been the highlight in many great movies.
I never read the book for sleepy hollow and waited thus long to watch the 1999 mystery film. I don’t know what sparked my interest in it this late but I felt lead to watch it. It might have been because it was a Johny Depp Film or directed by Tim Burton or because it was in my to watch list on Netflix. No matter trying to figure out the reason, lets just say it was a mystery ;).
Based on the book I would imagine by Washington Erving this movie features a classic seen shot in 1799. in a place not to far from network called sleepy hollow. Johny Depp plays the investigator who knows better than to just glance at recent death that has and unknown cause and say it is an accident. He ready to put to the test modern day science and forensic techniques to the test solve the questionable deaths nobody els will.
Not surprising to the audience but to Johny Depp the Murders in sleepy hollow are more that what he expected let alone dreamed of. The story keeps the watcher unsure if these murders are caused by the physical world or something beyond what the eye can see.
Mixed into the movie you have some witch craft, pretty ladies or lady I might correct my self, Men with Wigs, and the eerie ghostly little town of sleepy hollow. This town I might add I quite enjoyed as it was beautiful yet made you feel like something was going to pop out and get you behind every dark corner.
Johny’s Investigation skills are top notch and quite impressive making the movie just that much more amusing. They also did a great job in not letting the audience figure out to early the mystery behind sleepy hollow. Now what was cheesy and Im going to give this some merry being as old as this movie was was the scary effects. Lets just say man have they came a long way in what they now consider frighting.
This movie is nothing to jump off your bum and go run to the movies about and don’t bother it not in the movies anyways. But give it up for something different will yah.
This is a Hulu original that fits under the category of Comedy/Drama. It is really an interesting show that took me a while into the season to figure out what it was about and that the title really speaks accurately about it. Being a pretty serious comedy serious I wasn’t sure I was going to like it that much but it held an aspect of psychology that captured my interest until I could finally start getting into it.
The show is about the three people you see in the photo above. There is the divorced mother who has not gotten over her ex husband moving on as fast as he did after the divorce. She is a psychologist/counselor that you will find out while watch has as many issues as a the clients she counsels and will often end up having her family and assistant giving her therapy. The mother has a daughter in the middle of the picture above who she basically lets do what ever she wants because of her psychological mind set. This allows them to have a close relationship witch overall is not that healthy and causes issues later down the road. After the divorce the mother and daughter move into the mothers brother’s house where he openly excepts them in. The mother and her brothers relationship is also very uncomfortably close making the three of them one interesting too casual of a family.
As you will come to figure out what this show is about is Sex! real causal Sex. you can tell when each episode starts the intro shows a list of preferences that one would choose on a dating site. Like looking for a relationship, just dating ext, and the one it lands on is casual. So the brother is only rich because he was a partner in creating this dating site called Snooger where the Brother basically has not contributed to the company since the beginning and now only uses the site to his own benefit of hooking up with what ever women he chooses. He can do this because he is a master at knowing what the perfect online dating profile looks like and what women tend to for when reading a fellows profile.
The sexual relationships between the family and the people they meet really make up the bulk of the entertainment in this show. They all end up treading on top of each others territory being too non nonchalant with their boundaries and being the victim of bad parents. You get to meet their parents as they to eventually come into the show and you get to see all the destruction they did to their kids and there grandkid.
The show starts out real slow and continues to be slow but it is well made and the progression flows along smoothly as you start to see the different characters and their relationships come to be. Causal sort of reminds me of the show Weeds in being similar to sharing the qualities of having an unstructured family and a similar feel. Its definitely not much of a show to just jump in on on any episode having the since that you will need to watch this one from the begging if you are going to have any clue on what is happening. A lot conspires from episode to episode and this is another reason that this show is just decent enough to watch.
I have high hopes for the second season but am still debating on watching it or not because i believe that there are much better show out there to watch having found many! But it seams to be a popular pick upon Hulu watchers and should deserve the chance to even give the first season a full watch through. Like I said, after the first season I am more incline to continue watching. This show gets a Six out of Ten.
Nice job done by the previews in making this look like one scary movie except for all things considered it wasn’t. From the previews you will get an impression of a very scary movie that fits in the category of flesh eating disease and decaying. Where they do a great job is in hiding back what makes this movie scary. And they did it for a great reason too.. To hide that fact that this movie isn’t really scary at all. The best thing that it had going for it in this department was the short lived attempted at suspense. Every time I thought something scary was about to happen it didn’t and just turned out to be a total let down.
So what do we got here. Well its hard to tell for the longest time and even at the end you are still thinking what was this movie truly about anyways. The movie begins by showing the worst of the disease and gets it out of the way making you think this is as worst as it gets or it must get a whole lot worse. Unfortunately this is as bad as it gets.
The whole point of this movie reveals itself slowly as simply don’t catch the disease and this is what the movie focuses on the whole time. The only other variable involved is the other family that they allow to stay with them in their house in the woods. Eventually this becomes the movie. two families living in the same house trying work together but at the same time can’t trust each other. In fact in the condition that they are in they can’t trust anybody.
Resources seem to be scarce and the people that did decided to get out of the city are the few that have not gotten sick. The importance of taking precautions and having rules is made explicit throughout the plot and even making it another core concept of this movie. The family cannot be too careful, they live in an abandon house out in the woods and have it boarded up except for one door that is the only way in and out. Most of the exciting thrilling scenes happen around this door being that its the place where most people end up getting sick.
Composed of better than normal acting and screenwriting this is what makes this movie bearable to watch, though it is expected finding out that it had nothing really els going for it. Most of the progression in the movie was slow and some parts even unnecessary or completely drawn out way longer than they needed to be. You might say after watching it that it has since of artsiness to it, being much different than other suspense/horrors movies tend to be.
The actors playing the main family did not look to be a good match for each other as it was difficult to tell if the son was really even related to the father. Both the father and the son were interesting characters. They acted and looked to be totally opposites. The son was probably the strangest of them all. He would have these strange dreams every night that would actually be the scariest parts of the movie, which was really disappointed. But on top of that he was a bit of a disturbed individual having to deal with so many people dyeing and his inner drive pushing him to find a women when there is none except one.
Many people talked about how the ending of this movie was really just not good. I didn’t quite think it was that far off from the rest of the movie and that it all pretty much was expected, being how boring the rest of it was. Yes, they could have done a better job in closing up this sad story but if you think about it, it does the job in pulling together and closing the whole theme of the thing.
My recommendation don’t be fooled by Rotten Tomatoes on this one, and listen to the fans instead. This movie gets a Five out of Ten
